Battle of Burnt Corn Creek
The first full-scale battle of the Creek War, the Battle of Burnt Corn Creek was fought on July 27, 1813. In the encounter, a band of Red Stick warriors defeated militia under the command of James Caller.
The exact site of the battle is unknown. A historic marker commemorating the battle is located at 6729 County Road 5, 2½ miles south of the town of Burnt Corn in Monroe County, Alabama.
