Lemuel Montgomery Statue
Major Lemuel Montgomery served in the Thirty-ninth U.S.
regiment. A Nashville attorney whose grandfather had fought in
the American Revolution, Montgomery was killed at Horseshoe
Bend when he was shot while scaling the Red Stick fortification.
Montgomery County, Alabama, is named in his honor.
A statue of him stands at the Montgomery County, Alabama
courthouse.
