The Creek War and the War of 1812
Camp Wills
General Andrew Jackson established Camp Wills on the west bank of Big Will’s Creek in October of 1813 as he made his way into the heart of Creek territory. He paused his army here for six days so that it could be resupplied before advancing on November 1st, 1813. Camp Wills would continue as an important camp site for supply wagon trains and soldiers during General Jacksons actions against the Red Stick Creeks.
The site is located on private property in Etowah County just east of the city of Attalla, Alabama. Photo and information provided by Terry Henderson.
