Kennedy's Mill
Kennedy’s Mill, along with nearby Hinson's Mill, were prominent saw mills in the Tensaw District located a few miles south of Fort Mims. They were major suppliers of lumber in their immediate area as well as for work on the
fortifications in Mobile and at Fort Bowyer. Viewed as strategically important, the mills were protected by a stockade and garrisoned by a small detachment of troops. The site was abandoned shortly after the attack on Fort Mims, and later burned by Red Sticks.
An historic marker commemorating Kennedy’s Mill stands on County Road 225 a few miles north of I-65 in northeastern Baldwin County, Alabama.
