The Creek War and the War of 1812
Fort Morris
Originally constructed during the Revolutionary War, Fort Morris was rebuilt and renamed Fort Defiance during the War of 1812 to guard against British advances on coastal Georgia. The fortification was located just outside of the once-thriving town of Sunbury, which has now been abandoned. Today, the site is operated
as a state park.
The park is located at 2559 Fort Morris Road in Midway, Georgia.
