The Creek War and the War of 1812
T.H. Ball Monument
Any study of the Creek War must include H.S. Halbert and T.H. Ball’s The Creek War of 1813 and 1814 (Chicago: Donahue and Henneberry, 1895). Without the exhaustive work of these authors, which included
conducting oral interviews and corresponding with those who lived through the conflict, our knowledge of the Creek War would be significantly diminished. As one time residents of Clarke County, Alabama, Halbert and Ball’s work displays a familiarity with the sites where the war unfolded that can be found in no other volume.
This monument to Ball is located just off Highway 84 in central Clarke County, Alabama.
