The Creek War and the War of 1812
Camp Blount
After the massacre at Fort Mims, Tennessee militia were
called up and given orders to rendezvous in Fayetteville,
Tennessee, to prepare for action against the Red Stick
Creeks. Andrew Jackson joined them here in October
1813 at this camp, named after Governor Blount, to take
command and begin the march southward.
The site is located in downtown Fayetteville on Huntsville Highway.
